Read More Samsung overtakes Apple, grabs biggest smartphone share in Q1 The worldwide smartphone market grew 42.5 percent year-over-year during the first quarter, as Samsung Electronics overtook Apple for the smartphone leadership position, according to IDC's estimates. Vendors shipped 144.9 million smartphones during the first three months of 2012 compared to 101.7 million in the same period last year, the market research company said. Read More Skype investigates tool that reveals users' IP addresses Skype said Tuesday it is investigating a new tool that collects a person's last known IP address, a potential privacy-compromising issue. Instructions posted on Pastebin on Thursday showed how a person's IP address could be shown without adding the targeted user as a contact by looking at the person's general information and log files. Read More Flashback gang could be making $10K a day off infected Macs The Flashback malware that's infected hundreds of thousands of Macs may be generating more than $10,000 a day for the hackers who made the Trojan horse, Symantec said Monday.
