Samsung seeks stay on injunction against Galaxy Nexus smartphone
Samsung Electronics asked a U.S. federal court over the weekend for a temporary stay on its preliminary injunction on the sale of the Galaxy Nexus smartphone in the U.S., pending the company's appeal. Judge Lucy H. Koh of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division, on Friday granted a preliminary injunction against the Galaxy Nexus and "any product that is no more than colorably different from the specified product and infringes U.S. Patent No. 8,086,604." Dell buying Quest for $2.4 billion
Dell announced Monday that it is buying Quest Software for $2.4 billion, following weeks of speculation over its interest in the infrastructure software vendor. The deal is expected to close later this year. Quest's products include the Toad database management toolset, Quest One Identity management software, and the SonicWALL and Secureworks products, all of which will be complementary to Dell's portfolio, the companies said in a statement. Twitter turns off 'tweet' tap to LinkedIn
Twitter messages will go down a one-way street on LinkedIn after Twitter shuts off its flow of data to the professional networking site on Friday. LinkedIn users can still opt to share their status updates written on its website with Twitter, but not the other way around. In an email to users, LinkedIn said Twitter had "evolved its strategy." Both IE and Chrome claim June's top browser spot
The two most-cited browser tracking firms reported significantly different results for June on Sunday, with one claiming Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) easily maintained its No. 1 spot as the other said Chrome extended its lead over IE. U.S.-based Net Applications said that IE accounted for 54 percent of all browsers used in June, head and shoulders above Chrome's 19.1 percent and Mozilla's Firefox, which came in second with 20.1 percent.
